Speaker Pro Tempore
Speaker Pro Tempore Rosalind Kurita is Tennessee's highest ranking female official. The Speaker pro tempore is appointed by the Speaker of the Senate and presides in the absence of the Speaker. In the event of an interim vacancy in the office of the Speaker, the Speaker pro tempore conducts the business of the Senate.
Serving as Speaker Pro Tem of the Senate is a unique opportunity to bring together differing views. We must focus government so that it works for people and addresses the real life issues of education, access to healthcare and bringing good jobs to Tennessee.
